This event was the final workshop in the Green Shipping Project’s six-year research partnership. The GSP was a network consisting of approximately 40 university, industry and government partners that aimed to advance understanding of sustainable maritime transportation.

Participants: Approximately 90 academics, industry and civil society leaders in the shipping and sustainability sectors.

My responsibilities

I supported the academic conference convenor (SFU’s professor Peter Hall) by

• providing input on the event schedule, format and logistics
• researching accommodation options for panelists
• liaising with the venue’s logistics, catering and technical teams
• making catering and budget decisions within the available budget
• meeting and working with academic partners at SFU, UBC and several international universities
• writing, reviewing and sending invitation emails to potential panelists and participants
• collecting and editing panelist bios and photos for the printed event program
• supporting panelists by answering their schedule, logistics and accommodation questions
• processing panelists expenses for reimbursement
• creating the Eventbrite page and troubleshooting participant registration issues
• recruiting, coordinating and supervising student notetakers
• providing on-site coordination and support on event day.
